Setup > Entities
An entity is a module of your business, such as a restaurant, a commissary, or an accounting unit. Each entity is identified by a unique name and number.
If you use Compeat's Advantage and/or Payroll products, the entity data will initially populate from those applications. Thereafter, this data will be shared with these applications.
There are four types of entities:
1.Restaurants - A restaurant sells food and drinks to customers.
2.Accounting - An accounting entity handles the financial aspects of a business, but does not sell food or drinks, keep inventory or process Daily Sales Reports (DSRs). You can define as many accounting entities as you want. They do not require additional Compeat licenses. This allows you to set up multiple, distinct financial departments for marketing, information systems, etc. without incurring additional licensing fees.
3.Commissaries - A commissary is effectively your own vendor to your restaurants, making accounts receivable rather than accounts payable. Defined commissaries require a restaurant license as well as a separate commissary fee.
4.Commissary Departments - Your commissary can be broken into numerous commissary departments, each with a Compeat license. You may choose to ship product from your commissary departments or from the commissary as a whole.
5.Store Groups - You may want to categorize your entities by different categories for reporting purposes. For example, you may want to set up regions or concepts.
6.Entity Filters - You may want to group specific entities (outside of any defined store groups) for exporting payroll records. This can be particularly useful if you have some stores that share one tax ID and others that are associated to a different tax ID.
Important: By default, when you define a new entity, all users' access is denied. Thus, to access a new entity, you must first go to Setup > Security > Users and grant access to each appropriate user.
