Mobile Counts by Barcode

The Order/Valuation Counts by Barcode screens in Compeat Mobile allow you to take inventory by scanning barcodes. You can also use this feature to add new UPC's to your system without having to manually enter them in Compeat see Assigning New UPCs).

When you scan a barcode, if you have the barcode defined, either on a restaurant level or enterprise-wide level, the system will load the item and you can enter the quantity. If no barcodes are defined in either Restaurant Inventory Items or Master Inventory Items, you will be prompted to add the barcode.

Note: There is an important difference in the way that items are handled when entered by barcode rather than by position. Items entered through the "...by Position" screens replace any previous mobile counts, while items entered through the "...by Barcode" screens are added to previous mobile counts. Because newly entered numbers are added to previous numbers, if an error is made when counting by barcode, you must correct the error in the Counts by Position screen.

Important: If you select a location that does not have any counts, you will receive a dialog box asking whether to assume 0 for uncounted items.
Answering Yes will set all items to 0 for the selected location. If you do not count an item (for example if it has been depleted from inventory), its inventory count will be zero. You would generally want to use this option if you are doing a complete inventory count.
Answering No will leave uncounted items at the previous count number. This would be useful if you are doing a partial inventory and don't intend to count some of the inventory in the location.
