Although other variations are possible, it is expected that you will follow the general process below for taking inventory using a mobile computer:
Post existing inventory in Compeat Advantage (clears all counts).
Synchronize Compeat Mobile with Compeat Advantage (transfer data to mobile computer).
Take inventory counts with Compeat Mobile.
Synchronize Compeat Advantage to Compeat Mobile (transfer data from mobile computer).
Repeat the process from step 1 with each inventory count.
In Compeat Advantage, go to Inventory > Inventory Counts, and select Mobile Device Export.
Selected your preferences (see description of export options).
Click OK to generate the export file.
If your mobile computer is docked (and turned on), the file will automatically transfer. If it is not docked, dock it and the file will automatically transfer.
Allow the file-transfer to complete.
If Compeat Mobile is already opened, go to File, and select Import. If Compeat Mobile is closed, launch it and click Yes when prompted to import the data file.
In Compeat Mobile, go to File and select Export, or simply close Compeat Mobile.
You will receive a message saying that an output file was created. Click OK.
Dock the mobile computer to begin transferring the data file. If the mobile computer is already docked when you export or close Compeat Mobile, then simply remove and replace it in the dock to initiate file transfer.
Note: ActiveSync will by default prompt you to establish a partnership every time you transfer files from the mobile computer; you should generally answer No to this. To avoid this prompt altogether, go to File on the ActiveSync window and select Connection Settings. On the Connection Settings window, uncheck "Open ActiveSync when my device connects."
Allow the file transfer to complete.
Compeat Advantage will automatically detect the updated file and prompt you to import it. Click Yes to import.
(Optional) clear counts after confirming successful import into Advantage. See Suggestions for Success.
Note: If you wish to undo an import, you can revert to a previous state by selecting Inventory > inventory Counts Undo Mobile Device Import.
