To create, update, or delete a DSR (Daily Sales Report), go to Transactions menu > Daily Sales Reports.
Quick Tip: The Daily Sales Report can also be opened from the left-side panel when using the default layout.
When the DSR screen displays, you will see the last entered DSR. You can use the arrows at the top of the screen to browse records, or press F8 to see a list of all the DSRs entered for the restaurant. You can edit or delete any unposted DSRs.
Note: Click Hide Posted DSRs to exclude DSRs that have already been posted from the list. Your choice is remembered by Compeat for the next time you open the DSR screen. The button will change to Show Posted DSRs; click it again to show posted DSRs.
Quick Tip: You can use Scan Document to scan original DSR documents into Compeat.
If you use the Compeat POS polling feature, before you enter a DSR, the POS information should first be imported. The POS information is automatically imported based on a schedule defined at the time you installed Compeat (typically after the restaurant closes for the day).
See the POS Interfaces Overview to learn about setting up your POS system for automatic polling. You will also need to set up your restaurant for DSR deployment.
Alternatively, if you have access to the Compeat server, you can manually start the POS polling procedure by selecting Poll Restaurants from the Utilities menu.
If you use the Compeat POS polling features, when Compeat imports the POS information for a day, it automatically creates a DSR record with the sales information for that day. When you access the DSR screen, you can search or browse records to locate the DSR that was created for that day. You should not need to add records, because the DSR’s have already been created for you.
Note: If you have manually created a DSR for a particular date, Compeat cannot subsequently automatically create a DSR for that date with data imported from the POS.
If you need to re-poll a DSR, simply delete it by clicking the red ‘X’. You will be asked if you wish to delete the salesmix as well, and will then be asked if you wish to repoll the DSR. Clicking ‘Yes’ will cause the DSR to repoll. The amount of time it takes for the DSR to repoll is determined by the Update Interval defined in Setup > Polling > Client Configuration.
If ‘Show Repolled DSR Notification’ is checked in Setup > Enterprise Definitions, you will receive an alert when the DSR is available.
Note: Being able to repoll DSRs in this manner depends on a number of factors, including your POS type, and the version of Compeat Polling software being used.
After you have located the DSR for the day that you wish to enter, select it and it will display. You can then add data to the DSR and make sure it balances before posting it.
Important: You must have batch posting authority to make changes to polled DSRs. The only exception is the Actual Cash Deposit field (and its optional second entry box) of the DSR's Taxes & Receipts tab. This field can be edited by anyone until the DSR has been completed or posted.
If you do not use the Compeat POS polling features, you should add a new record each time you need to enter a new DSR. Compeat will display a blank DSR for the next valid date. The next valid date is determined by incrementing the last completed or posted date by one, then checking to see if the new incremented date is a day on which the restaurant is open (defined under Setup > Entities > Restaurants > Main tab).
If the date the DSR defaults to is not the date you wish to enter, change the date. You cannot enter a date that already has a saved DSR. For example, if you have saved a DSR for June 1, 2010, you cannot enter that date again.
Important: Once the DSR has been saved, you cannot change the date. You would have to delete and then re-enter the DSR to effect a date change.
