Poll Restaurants

This screen is only available when Micros 8700 or 9700 POS systems are defined under the POS Mapping Utility.

The Poll Restaurants utility allows you to start Compeat’s POS Polling from within Compeat. The polling can also be run from the NT Service if logged in as administrator using the CPS Manager program. Additionally, polling can be set to occur on a specified schedule (through CPS Manager).

One reason you might want to use this utility is if you have restaurant managers perform nightly hot item inventory counts to accurately determine any variances in inventory quantities on hand, and highlight any items that have a low or high stock.

Note: The Missing Polling Data report allows you to quickly see what kind of data at which restaurants hasn't polled in the last 30 days

In order for restaurant managers to run a nightly hot item inventory count variance report, they must perform the following steps:

  1. Perform, input, and post a hot item physical inventory count.

  2. Close the POS’s for the night, after which time a custom, Compeat-created script automatically runs on the POS machine to export the daily sales and sales mix information.

  3. Use the Poll Restaurant utility to import the sales mix data into Compeat.

Note: The Poll Restaurant utility will import the sales mix data for all restaurants that have exported their data from the POS; therefore, when a manager runs the Poll Restaurant utility, he may be importing into other restaurants as well as his own. The data will only import one time, so this will not cause any data duplication.

  1. Run the Inventory Count Variance report for the hot items. When the sales mix is imported into Compeat, the theoretical quantity on hand for each item sold is decreased. Therefore, when the manager reviews the report, it should accurately indicate any variances in inventory quantities on hand, and indicate any items that have a low or high stock.

Selecting the Poll Restaurants utility brings up a dialog indicating the last polling date, and asking you to confirm that you wish to poll. Select Yes to start the polling for all restaurants.

You will not be notified that the polling is complete; it will simply run, and when it is complete (in a few minutes), you can access your daily sales and sales mix data.
