Note: Within Compeat there are several ways to setup polling. Changing any of the polling screens can have an adverse effect on existing polling. Please contact Compeat Support before making any changes unless you are familiar with the setup.
The polling process and setup described in the POS interfaces section including ‘POS Mapping Utility’ and ‘Specific POS Tracking Definitions’ are for use with Compeat’s legacy polling products which include polling with the application based polling client and polling of Micros 8700 and 9700 through the NT Polling service. The screens in the ‘Polling’ screens section describe polling through the use of a more recently developed service based client. These two sections are entirely independent of each other, and depending on your POS type and the date of your implementation, you may be using the application based client or service based clients on you POS, or in some cases both.
Compeat can access daily sales and/or sales mix data directly from your Point of Sale (POS) system. In order to poll your POS system, your installation process must include polling service setup. First, you need to select whether either or both of the following types of information should be polled from the POS system:
Daily sales
information, which is used in Compeat to populate the DSR.
If you poll the sales information from the POS, when you access the
Compeat DSR screen, the sales information for the day is already available
and can be edited, updated, and posted into the general ledger.
This feature requires you to complete the General
Procedure for POS Integration, after Compeat has been configured
for polling during installation.
Sales mix
information, which is used in Compeat for sales mix and profit
reporting, and to decrement theoretical quantities on-hand for inventory
and prep items. If you poll the sales mix information from the POS,
you can run reports that show which menu items are the most profitable,
which items sell the best, and how much inventory stock you have on
hand, to name just a few.
This feature requires that POS codes have been included in the definitions
of menu items.
Setting up Compeat to work with the imported daily sales POS information involves the following:
General Procedure for POS Integration Regardless of your POS system type, there are general steps that must be taken to integrate your POS with Compeat.
POS Tracking Definitions Because each restaurant location can use different types of POS’s, each restaurant must define its own POS Tracking Definitions. If you do not find instructions for your POS, contact Compeat. Instructions are available for the following POS systems:
POS Mapping Utility This tool allows you to map the POS tracking definitions to the Compeat DSR fields you previously defined in the Setup > DSR > DSR Definitions > Time Periods tab setup.
In order to effectively set up Compeat to access your POS system, it is helpful to have a working knowledge of your POS. If you require assistance, you can contract Compeat to provide training or implementation.
