Case Sensitive - When a field is case sensitive, it means that it must be typed exactly the way it has been stored in the system with regard to the case of the letters.  This is typically applicable to passwords.  In order for your input to match (and you be granted access) you must match not only the letters, but the case of the letters.  For example, if you initially set up your password as 'MyPassword', you will be required to type it in with a capital M and a capital P in order for the system to recognize it as a match to your password and, ultimately, grant you access.  If you type in, 'mypassword' or 'Mypassword' or 'myPassword' access will not be granted.

Employees - Employees are users of the MyWorkforce portal only.  They will not have access to Workforce.

Enterprise - Not to be confused with the Compeat Enterprise product, 'enterprise' refers to the sum of all entities for your business.

Entity - An entity is a module of your business, such as a restaurant, a commissary, or an accounting unit. Each entity is identified by a unique name and number.

Features - Features are synonymous with screens in Workforce.

Find Screen - A 'find screen' is a screen with a list of records that can be clicked on for further definition.  For more information on find screens, please visit the Navigating Workforce Screens section.

FTP - File Transfer Protocol.  A software standard that allows files to be transferred via the internet.  This protocol is an industry standard which allows the transfer between machines regardless of operating systems.

House Shifts - If you wish to fill a shift, but do not want to assign it to a specific employee, the 'House Shift' option is available.  A house shift is a scheduled shift without an employee. House shifts are designed so that managers can either assign them to an employee later or advertise them to all available employees to pick up. How this will function depends on the options selected in labor definitions.

MAC Address - MAC stands for Media Access Control.  A MAC Address is a unique identifier for network interfaces.  For our use, it identifies the network card for any computer.  We can, therefore, identify each computer by a MAC Address.

MyWorkforce users - MyWorkforce users have access to the MyWorkforce portal.  This group of users is made up of both Workforce users and employees.

POS - Point of Sale system.  Some examples of this are an Aloha or Micros system.

Schedule Summary Band - Summary bands are located at the bottom of a schedule.  These bands provide totals and summarize data for both the current schedule and all schedules.

Service Charges (as defined by the Department of Labor) - A compulsory charge for service, for example, 15 percent of the bill, is not a tip. Such charges are part of the employer's gross receipts. Sums distributed to employees from service charges cannot be counted as tips received, but may be used to satisfy the employer's minimum wage and overtime obligations under the FLSA. If an employee receives tips in addition to the compulsory service charge, those tips may be considered in determining whether the employee is a tipped employee and in the application of the tip credit.

Workforce Users - Workforce users have access to the Workforce system.  Typically, Workforce users will be managers and executives.  Most Workforce users will also be MyWorkforce users.

URL - Uniform Resource Locator.  A specific character string that references an internet resource.  Most of the time, this is a specific address to a website, web page or a spot within a web page. Example: http://www.compeat.com/ or http://www.compeat.com/products/Compeat_Advantage/

Users - Synonymous with Workforce users.  This is how they are referred to within the Workforce system.
