Copy a Restaurant

Sometimes your enterprise may want to open a branch restaurant and copy as much information as possible from an existing restaurant to the new one, where you can then modify the information to suit the new entity.

To automate the creation of a new restaurant as much as possible, follow these steps in the order presented:

  1. Restaurant Definitions Enter the new license code and entity number, and as much information as possible about the new restaurant on the three tabs of this screen (you can come back later for further definition).

  2. Security Add new users to groups already defined enterprise-wide, and allow access of at least one group to the new restaurant's screens.

  3. Bank Accounts For the new Rest #, define at least one GL Account #, Bank Code, and Bank Name record to establish a base banking relationship.

  4. Other Definitions Change to the existing restaurant and use the Copy button on the Setup menu's Other Definitions screen to copy its settings to the new restaurant number.

  5. Periods Go to the Setup menu's Periods screen, select the new restaurant number, and click the New button to assign the existing restaurant's periods scheme to the new restaurant.

  6. DSR Setup Add any POS codes specific to the new restaurant to the existing Comps, Paid Outs, and Additional Deposits definitions on the Setup menu's DSR submenu screens.

  7. DSR Definitions Use this screen's Copy button to copy the DSR information on its various tabs from the existing restaurant to the new restaurant. Then update credit card, banking, tax rate, etc. information as necessary.

  8. Copy Tracking Definitions Go to Setup > POS Interfaces, and select the appropriate POS to open the tracking definitions; click Copy in the toolbar.

  10. Copy Inventory Use the Inventory menu > Restaurant Inventory Item submenu's Copy Inventory screen to copy both inventory and vendor information to the new restaurant (make sure you check the Include Vendor Information  box). You can of course modify and add to this information later.

  11. Copy POS Codes Use the Inventory menu > Menu Items submenu's Copy POS Codes screen to copy menu prices and POS codes to the new restaurant.
