Compeat can interface with mobile computers for data collection. To use a mobile computer with Compeat, you must have Microsoft ActiveSync installed, and have a compatible mobile computer running Compeat Mobile software (see Compeat Mobile). The device's docking station must be connected (generally by USB) to your PC.
Use the Mobile Device Export to transfer inventory data from Compeat to a mobile computer. When you use the Mobile Device Export function, data files are created and placed in a specified folder on your system's hard drive. From there, the data files are automatically transferred to the mobile computer using ActiveSync.
Access the Mobile Device Export screen under Inventory > Inventory Counts.
Description of export options:
Export Folder Compeat automatically creates a "Sync" folder and a default path for the data files. The default path should generally be accepted, except in rare situations in which Compeat is running from a drive other than your local computer.
Export Type Select between additive or overwrite counting. These options will only be available here if "Chosen During Export" is selected under Setup > Other Definitions > Other tab.
Additive Counting An additive export does not export existing item quantities from Compeat. When an import is performed, the values counted are added to existing counts for that item and location.
If you use multiple mobile computers to count a single location, you may want to use Export for Additive Counting mode. In additive counting mode, newly imported counts will be added to previous counts. This is useful, for example, if, say, two people are counting different sections of the bar and there are bottles of Jack Daniels in both sections. After each person has synchronized their mobile counts with Compeat Advantage, their individual counts of Jack Daniels will be added together, as would likely be the desired result for items in the same location.
Note: Although you might expect the system to recognize the same item, in the same location, with the same position as the exact same item and not add counts for it from two different hand-helds, this is not the case. All items are added.
Overwrite Counting An overwrite export will export quantities of existing counts from Compeat. When data is imported from the mobile to Compeat Advantage, any values changed in Compeat Mobile will overwrite values of existing counts for that item and location.
This mode can be used to check inventory counts because all current quantities are displayed in the "...by Position" screens.
Filter Locations You can select specific locations to export by clicking on this button. Limiting the number of locations that are exported can improved performance, especially when large amounts of data are involved.
In Compeat, go to Inventory > Inventory Counts, and select Mobile Device Export.
Selected your preferences (see description of export options above).
Click OK to generate the export files.
If your mobile computer is docked, the files will automatically transfer. If it is not docked, dock it to initiate file transfer.
Wait for the confirmation that file transfer has completed. This may take a few seconds.
If Compeat Mobile is already opened, go to File, and select Import. If Compeat Mobile is closed, launch it and click Yes when prompted to import data file.

Generally, Compeat will prompt you to import if a data file is available from a mobile device. However, in rare cases, such as when you decline to import after being prompted, you may need to manually import. To do this, simply go to Inventory > Inventory Counts, and select the Mobile Device Import command. Compeat will search for available files in the default location.
