Use the Sales Tax tab to specify up to five tax rates and their corresponding general ledger account numbers. You can configure each tax to calculate on food only, alcohol only, or on both. This tab is optional.
Compeat calculates taxes based on the sales amounts from the POS system. It posts the calculated number, not the sales tax collected amount entered into the DSR. If the collected and calculated sales tax amounts are not equal, Compeat automatically makes a balancing entry to the Tax Difference Account.
It is possible that Compeat's sales tax calculations differ from your POS system's sales tax calculations. This would happen if the rate categories were not identically defined.
If you check the "Use Sales Tax Difference Feature" box, and specify a GL account number to accept the differences, you will receive a warning every time the DSR's polled sales tax differs from Compeat's calculation of it, and that difference will be placed in the GL account specified.
You can turn off this functionality by unchecking the box.
